the AP5100 step-down converter comes in a six-pin SOT26 package and integrates power MOSFET and internal compensation to limit external component requirements

To enable space savings and efficiency improvements in set-top box, modem, and distributed-power applications, the AP5100 step-down converter comes in a six-pin SOT26 package and integrates power MOSFET and internal compensation to limit external component requirements. Operating at a fixed switching frequency of 1.4 MHz, the converter also enables a reduction in the size of external components, particularly the inductor. It delivers a constant current output up to 1.2A at 90% efficiency over an input supply range from 4.75V to 24V. Output is adjustable via a resistor divider from 0.81V to 15V. Other features include an enable pin that enters the device into standby mode where it consumes 0.1 µA, thermal shutdown, and cycle-by-cycle over-current protection. Price is $0.24 each/1,000.
