Driving all intermediate bus architecture point-of-load (POL) apps, the LM27402 enters the arena as the industry’s most feature-rich 20V synchronous buck controller.

Driving all intermediate bus architecture point-of-load (POL) apps, the LM27402 enters the arena as the industry’s most feature-rich 20V synchronous buck controller. Allegedly, it is the first universal POL controller to integrate the advanced features required for many types of dc/dc apps into a single chip. These include a wide input voltage range of 3V to 20V, inductor dc resistance current sense with programmable threshold level, an output voltage adjustable down to 0.6V with a 1% voltage reference, an integrated bias supply sub-regulator, high-current MOSFET gate drivers with adaptive dead-time control, and programmable soft-start, tracking, and pre-biased startup. Available in 16-pin thermally enhanced TSSOP and 4 mm x 4 mm LLP packages, pricing for the LM27402 is $1.68 each/1,000. NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 272-9959.
