MAX8895 battery charger integrates automatic adapter detection and USB enumeration to optimize charging without an external MCU or software.

Compatible with USB battery-charging specification, revision 1.1, the MAX8895 battery charger integrates automatic adapter detection and USB enumeration to optimize charging without an external MCU or software. It integrates a battery-disconnect switch, current-sense circuit, thermal-regulation circuitry, MOSFET pass elements, and overvoltage protection up to 16V. Programming options include fast-charge current, termination current, and charge timer duration. The device also supports adaptive battery charging. Other features include a charge-status flag, charge-fault flag, power-OK monitor, battery thermistor monitor, timer for safe charging, and under-voltage lockout. Price is $1.50 each/2,500.
