In a 3 mm x 3 mm QFN, the TPS24720 hot-swap controller with programmable FET safe operating area protection minimizes in-rush current and protects the load and the FET from transients.

In a 3 mm x 3 mm QFN, the TPS24720 hot-swap controller with programmable FET safe operating area protection minimizes in-rush current and protects the load and the FET from transients. A programmable current limiting feature allows it to control an external N-channel MOSFET and provide accurate current monitoring. Programmed to a 25-mV current limit threshold, there is a 50% reduction in sense resistor power loss compared to other devices with the same accuracy. Other features include an input voltage range from 2.5V to 18V, programmable FET SOA power limit and fault timer, and programmable current gain. Pricing is $1.50 each/1,000.
