12-W DC-DC Maintains Tight Line Regulation

Tight line regulation and wide input range distinguish Murata’s NCS12 series of encapsulated 12-W dc-dc converters from comparable devices. The metal-cased power supplies feature a 4:1 input range; 9- to 36-V dc or 18- to 75-V dc input voltage models are available. Single-output models cater to the popular nominal output voltages from 3.3 to 15 V dc. Duals come with either ±5-, ±12- or ±15-V dc outputs. Undervoltage lockout ensures that the converter only operates with a valid input voltage. Load regulation usually falls within the range of 0.05 to 1%, and is model-dependent. Line regulation is typically 0.1%. Start-up time takes 9 ms. The NCS12, which measures 20 by 32 by 10.75 mm, uses a standard pinout that’s also compatible with previous generations of the company’s dc-dc converters.
