180-W AC-DC Power Supplies Shrink Footprint Nearly 50%

Oct. 14, 2013
The ECP180 series of low-profile, open-frame 180-W ac-dc power supplies feature an average active-mode efficiency of 93% and a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5 W.

The ECP180 series of low-profile, open-frame 180-W ac-dc power supplies feature an average active-mode efficiency of 93% and a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5 W. As a result, XP Power’s new supplies produce less heat and help end-system designers meet current “green” energy-efficiency standards. They maintain a convection-cooled rating of 120 W, with 180-W full output power needing just 10 CFM of forced airflow. Measuring 2.0 by 4.0 inches (and 1.0-in. profile), the ECP180s occupy 46% less footprint than the standard 3- by 5-in. power supply. Six output-voltage models are available: +12, +15, +24, +28, +36, and +48 V dc. All integrate power factor correction (PFC) and possess a universal wide input range of 85 to 264 V ac; a secondary 12-V dc/0.5-A fan output comes standard. Operating temperature ranges from −20 to +70°C, with no derating until +50°C. Applications include information-technology, industrial, and medical equipment.
