Vishay Intertechnology added a 5-A synchronous buck regulator capable of programmable switching frequencies to 4 MHz to its microBUCK family of integrated devices. High- and low-side power MOSFETs in the Vishay Siliconix SiP12108 are squeezed into a 3- by 3-mm QFN-16 package. Input voltage ranges from 2.8 to 5.5 V. Adjustable output voltage drops to 0.6 V with ±1% accuracy, while a selectable power-saving mode pushes efficiency to 95% across the full load-current range. The device’s current-mode constant on-time (CM-COT) architecture provides fast transient response and minimizes output capacitance. It’s protected against output undervoltage and overvoltage, thermal shutdown, input undervoltage lockout, and internal soft start. An “A” version (SiP1210SA) comes with output undervoltage protection disabled. The regulator suits point-of-load regulation and 3.3- and 5-V rails in computing, consumer, telecom, and industrial applications.
