A programmable current limit, power-good flag, and precision highlight Linear Technology’s LT3065 low-dropout (LDO) voltage linear regulator. At full load, the LDO delivers up to 500-mA output current with a 300-mV dropout voltage. It has a 1.8- to 45-V input voltage range and an adjustable output voltage from 0.6 to 40 V. A single REF/BYP pin capacitor provides low-noise 25-µVRMS operation across a 10-Hz to 100-kHz bandwidth, as well as reference soft-start functionality. Output voltage tolerance is ±2% over line, load, and temperature. Quiescent current comes in at 55 µA. The LT3605 operates with a mini, low-cost 3.3-µF ceramic output capacitor. A PWRGD flag indicates output regulation. One resistor programs the external precision current limit (±10% over temperature). Packaging options are a thermally enhanced, 10-lead, 3- by 3-mm DFN and 12-lead MSOP. Applications include industrial, avionic, and automotive power supplies, as well as battery-powered systems and instruments requiring optimum run time.
