Designers now have an alternative to thermocouples in precision circuits: Ametherm’s NTC chip thermistors deliver high-accuracy temperature measurement with precision tolerances to 1%. Measuring 1.27 by 1.27 mm with profiles from 0.5 to 3.8 mm, the devices (recently acquired rom Measurement Specialties) feature resistance at 25°C from 100 Ω to 500 kΩ and operate at temperatures to +150°C. Their dissipation constant is 2 mW/°C, and thermal time constants drop down to 2 seconds. The thermistors come in epoxy-coated and uncoated configurations. Applications include fan motor controls, fluid levels, and temperature sensors.
