1U-Profile Power Supplies Achieve 400 W Without Fans

May 8, 2014
Compact single- and dual-output power supplies developed by XP Power don’t require cooling fans or forced airflow to deliver full 400-W output

Compact single- and dual-output power supplies developed by XP Power don’t require cooling fans or forced airflow to deliver full 400-W output. Single-output models also feature a peak power capability of 700 W for up to 0.5 seconds (suiting applications that have momentary high startup currents, e.g., motors). The SDH400 series of 1U-profile chassis-mount supplies measure 8.0 by 5.0 by 1.6 in. Typical efficiencies are 88% (single output) and 85% (dual output). Nine models comprise the single-output range, providing all popular nominal output voltages from +3 to +60 V dc. Three dual-output models offer output combinations of +5/+12, +5/+24, or +12/+24 V dc. A trim function allows for user adjustment of output voltage in the ±5% range of stated nominal to make up for load losses or for non-standard voltage requirements. Other features include a Power OK signal, remote on/off control, and short-circuit and overvoltage protection. Full convection rating is available from 90- to 264-V ac input. Operating temperature ranges from 0 to +70°C, with no derating until +50°C.
