Exar’s XR71211 low-dropout (LDO) regulator delivers 1.5 A from voltages down to 1.4 V and a guaranteed dropout voltage of 250 mV at maximum junction temperature. It avoids use of external bias voltage or an internal charge pump, which often generate unwanted noise. Targeting 1.5- to 1.2-V and 1.8- to 1.5-V conversions, the LDO will find homes in applications for communications, enterprise solutions, industrial systems, and space-constrained consumer devices. Its single supply helps reduce board layout, since there’s no need to route a secondary bias rail to the LDO. Operating input voltage ranges from 1.4 to 2.625 V. Available output voltages range down to 0.6 V with an accuracy of 0.5% using ceramic capacitors. Precision enable and power-good functions facilitate sequencing and control. The XR71211 comes in 10-pin, 3- by 3-mm, dual flat no-lead (DFN) packages.
