North Atlantic Industries (NAI) announces the availability of its latest 6U rugged VPX power product - the VPX56-6. Ideally suited for rugged military and commercial aerospace applications, the VPX56-6 provides up to 700 W of power (CC4 temperature range, full load) with five outputs and is compliant with MIL-STD-704F. Other features include current share, remote error sensing and a built-in EMI filter compliant with MIL-STD-461, CE-102 - all within a single slot 1.0 mm pitch, 6U package. The VPX56-6 is designed to meet standard 6U VPX mechanical requirements and has VITA 62 compatible outputs and signaling.
The VPX56-6 flexible design accommodates many different standard features, and addresses special needs with its Background Built-in-Test (BIT) and user programmability. VITA 62 defines both the mechanical and electrical requirements for COTS modules intended for creating modular power supplies. The primary focus of the NAI VPX56-6 is to support VITA 46.0 and VITA 65 systems with an off the shelf solution that is compatible with the VPX specifications and mechanically fits within the envelope defined in VITA 46.0 for 6U plug-in modules.
The NAI VPX56-6 accepts both a 3Ø AC or +270 Vdc input compliant with the input transients of Mil-Std 704F. It provides six outputs and I/O per the VITA 62 standard at 700 W.
In addition, the VPX56-6 includes protection against over voltage, over current and short circuits. Also included as features are remote error sensing and current share.
Designed with component derating per NAVMAT guidelines, the VPX56-6 will operate at full load through the entire -40 ° to +85 °C (VITA 47 CC4) temperature range. This rugged, conduction cooled power supply is designed per MIL-STD-810 & VITA 47 to meet the many harsh environmental requirements of military applications.
