Very high efficiencies and power densities, no thermal derating, high reliability, and a lightweight, small footprint package are all said to be realized with a new family of 1,000W switching power supplies that accepts 180-264 Vac and delivers 48 Vdc. Based on the companyÕs patent-pending Distributed Power Magnetics (DPM) technology, the new ac/dc switchers are said to outpace the competition by achieving a packaged power efficiency of about 91%, a power factor correction spec of greater than 0.95, and thermal and over-voltage protection. The 1U size supply has a -25¡C to 65¡C operating temperature range, needs no internal fan, and has approvals from several agencies.
