Measuring 0.3" in height, the Typhoon family of eighth- and quarter-brick dc/dc converters deliver power densities and efficiencies in excess of 106 W/in3 and 91%, respectively. The family includes two 20A eighth bricks and two 30A quarter bricks with an input-voltage range from 18V to 36V (24V nominal) and single isolated outputs of 1.8V and 3.3V. They team a full-wave, coupled-inductor topology with a processor-controlled synchronous rectifier circuit. The 1.8V models provide full-load efficiencies of 91%, and the 3.3V components deliver 90%. Each converter in the family operates in ambient temperatures from -40°C to +85°C without a fan. Prices for the 20A eighth and 30A quarter bricks are $54.45 and $78.95 each/1,000, respectively.
