Output current levels for the PKD series dc/dc converter modules have been significantly increased. The PKD 4510 ASI, for example, has posted an 88% increase, with the device now having an input voltage range of 36V to 75V and delivering up to 15A at 3.3V. Emerging devices in the series will include 1V/20A, 1.2V/20A, 1.5V/20A, 1.8V/20A, 2.5V/15A, and 5V/10A converters. New MOSFET technology is said to be responsible for decreased power losses and increased efficiencies of up to 91% at full load. The devices include both negative and positive remote control functions in each module, and they do not require a heatsink. The PKD series converters are designed for use in lead-free processes, measure 46 x 50 x 7.5 mm, and weigh less than 22g. Other features include input and output isolation up to 1.5 kVdc and a typical mean time between failures (MTBF) of 5.1 million hr. at 75°C.
