Specifically designed for high-rate uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), the Unigy High Rate Series of absorbed valve-regulated, lead-acid batteries consist of 12V mono-blocks housed in reinforced cases made of polyproylene or flame-retardant plastic. An absorbed glass-mat construction together with the company’s Hovosorb separators lower internal resistance to reportedly achieve superior high-rate, short-term discharge. Tank-formed plates optimize cell voltage balance, and low-pressure, self-sealing vents prevent gassing and deliver longer life. EAST PENN MANUFACTURING CO., Lyon Station, PA. (610) 682-6361.
