The VLA500K-01R, a hybrid integrated circuit for driving IGBT modules, consists of a fully isolated gate drive circuit with an isolated gate drive amplifier and isolated dc/dc converter. The gate driver provides an over-current protection function based on desaturation detection for 1.7 kV IGBT modules. Features include a SIP outline, built-in short-circuit protection with fault output, a variable fall time on short-circuit protection, an isolation voltage between input and output of 4 kVrms for one minute, and a TTL-compatible input. Sample pricing for the VLA500K-01R is $32.77/100. POWEREX, INC., Youngwood, PA. (800) 451-1415.
