Offered as a complete power supply controller for the mobile Pentium II and II and AMD mobile CPUs, the LTC1705 includes two switching regulator controllers to power the CPU core and I/O. The controllers operate 180û out of phase to minimize the number of input capacitors required. The device also includes an LDO to power the clock and is said to further reduce size by operating at a 550-kHz switching frequency. Each output can deliver up to 20A with an efficiency up to 90% and the LDO provides up to 150 mA of load current. Operating temperature range is from -40ûC to 85ûC. Available in a 28-lead SSOP, price starts at $5.35 each/1,000. LINEAR TECHNOLOGY CORP., Milpitas, CA. (408) 432-1900.
