The hot-swappable S5K modular uninterruptible power system (UPS) allows users to perform upgrades in the field, such as increasing VA ratings from 4 kVA to 16 kVA and adding N+x parallel redundancy. Said to be a more cost-effective alternative than installing additional UPSs, S5K requires only a few standard modules to expand protection for the target system. The modular components include the 4-kVA power modules, battery modules, and system control modules; and the units provide self-diagnostic capabilities. If a module fails, it is automatically taken off-line while the other modules continue to operate. Depending on expansion or redundancy requirements, users have a choice of chassis supporting up to eight or 12 modules. Other features include multiple and simultaneous communication ports, a variable input voltage range, an automatic internal bypass capability, continuous sine wave output, and a power factor corrected input.
