High power density and a lower component count and reduced need for external cooling are among the key attributes of the VSX75MD35, an isolated, 75W, dual-output dc/dc converter housed in a quarter-brick package. The new power supply boasts of a 90% efficiency, minimizing the need for heatsinking; a low output ripple, reducing external filtering requirements; and integrated functionality, such as non-latching protection against input under-voltage and output over-voltage, to help reduce external component count. Other features of the dc/dc converter include continuous short-circuit protection, input filtering, and a remote on/off capability. Suited for use in distributed power architectures and telecomm applications, the VSX75MD35 offers a wide, 36 to 75 Vdc input voltage range and 3.3 and 5.0 Vdc outputs. Output voltages can be trimmed by up to 10%, while output voltage tracking takes place at turn-on and turn-off under all line and load conditions. The UL/CUL 1950- and EN60950-approved converter also offers 1,500 Vdc of isolation between input and output. Price is $99 each in OEM quantities.
