Touting high efficiency and high power density, the QPW050A series of dc/dc converters can deliver 3.3V at 50A from a quarter-brick package. The dc/dc converters have a power density of 119 W/in.2, reported to be 30% greater than existing 35A quarter bricks. And they are capable of operating at an efficiency of 93%. Input voltages range from 36V to 75V, 48V nominal, and output voltage can be 3.3V down to 0.8V. Other features of the quarter-brick dc/dc converters include ±1% regulated outputs and the ability to deliver 30A of power at 70_C at 30A for 1 ms without an attached base-plate. In addition, the modules can be connected in parallel for load sharing. Price is $89 each/1,000. For more details, contact TYCO ELECTRONICS POWER SYSTEMS, Harrisburg, PA. (800) 526-7819.
