Targeting intermediate bus voltage designs and distributed power architectures, the 5A Austin MicroLynx and 16A SuperLynx non-isolated dc/dc converters accept input voltages from 10V to 14V and provide a regulated output ranging from 5V to 0.75V at load currents up to 5A and 16A, respectively. Both modules can achieve efficiency levels up to 94% at 5 Vout and are available in both SIP and SMT packages—the former mounts via through-hole vertical connections and the latter can accommodate automated assembly techniques. The dc/dc converters have an operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C and over-current protection; the SuperLynx also features over-temperature protection. The MicroLynx and SuperLynx are priced at $8.90 and $18 each/1,000, respectively. TYCO ELECTRONICS POWER SYSTEMS, Dallas, TX. (800) 526-7819.
