Sporting a 2.7V to 40V input and output range, the LTC3115-1 synchronous buck-boost dc/dc converter delivers up to 2A of continuous output current from power sources ranging from single-cell Li-Ion to 24V/28V industrial rails and 40V automotive inputs. Switching frequency is user programmable between 100 kHz and 2 MHz and can be synchronized to an external clock. Proprietary third generation buck-boost PWM circuitry ensures low noise and high efficiency. The device integrates four internal low on-resistance N-channel MOSFETs to deliver efficiencies of up to 95%. User-selectable Burst Mode operation lowers quiescent current to 50 μA and, or noise-sensitive applications, Burst Mode operation can be disabled. Additional features include internal soft-start, programmable under-voltage protection, short-circuit protection, and output disconnect. LTC3115EDHD-1 is available in a 16-lead, 4 mm x 5 mm DFN package and the LTC3115EFE-1 is available in a thermally enhanced 20-lead TSSOP. Pricing starts at $5.35 and $5.55 each/1,000, respectively.
