Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. launched two Schottky rectifiers with ultra-low forward voltage drops of 0.35 V at + 85 °C and 0.4 V at + 25 °C. Featuring the miniature MicroSMP power package and voltage ratings of 20 V (MSS1P2U) and 30 V (MSS1P3U) at 1 A, the devices provide high current power density and low thermal resistance to enable space-saving designs.
The MicroSMP package of the MSS1P2U and MSS1P3U measures only 2.7 mm by 1.4 mm, with a 0.68-mm profile. Combined with the devices' high current density of 1 A, the rectifiers are designed to provide more power in a smaller space for snubbers in hard disk drives for notebook computers, LCD TVs, and desktop TVs; secondary rectifiers for miniature switchmode power supplies and adaptors and for power-supply-type battery chargers; polarity protection for handheld equipment, such as PMPs, digital cameras, MP3 players, navigation systems, GPS, and cell phones; and polarity protection of power lines and signal lines in automotive and industrial systems.
The MSS1P2U and MSS1P3U feature a peak forward surge current of 30 A and maximum junction temperature of + 125 °C. Ideal for automated placement, the rectifiers meet MSL level 1, per J-STD-020, LF maximum peak of + 260 °C. The devices are RoHS complaint in accordance with 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC, and they are halogen-free according to IEC 61249-2-21.
Samples and production quantities of the MSS1P2U and MSS1P3U rectifiers are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery is $0.04 per piece in 10,000-unit quantities, $0.03 per piece in quantities from 10,000 to 99,000, and $0.025 per piece in quantities of 100,000 or more.
