Timing Product Families For PCIe Market

March 14, 2014
Micrel, Inc. launched the PL6020xxx and PL6070xxx clock generators along with the SY7557xL clock distribution family that provides extremely low phase noise for the PCI-Express (PCIe) reference clock signals and industry leading output-to-output skew.

Micrel, Inc. launched the PL6020xxx and PL6070xxx clock generators along with the SY7557xL clock distribution family that provides extremely low phase noise for the PCI-Express (PCIe) reference clock signals and industry leading output-to-output skew. This new product portfolio exceeds the requirements of the current PCIe Gen1, Gen2, and Gen3 standards and supports SST for EMI reduction.  The PCIe product families complement Micrel's growing line of high performance clock generators and clock distribution products.  Samples may be ordered by contacting your local Micrel rep or distributor.

Micrel's PCIe clock generators feature 1, 2, 4, or 8 outputs with industry-leading sub-200 fs phase jitter and output-to-output skew of 50 ps.  Spread Spectrum Technology (SST) in the PL6070xxx is also supported for EMI reduction.  The clock synthesizers accept a fundamental crystal or reference input of 25MHz and produce output frequencies ranging from 25 MHz to 200 MHz with 100 MHz phase noise performance of -135 dBc at 10 kHz offset.  In addition, the PCIe clock synthesizers support 2.5 V and 3.3 V power supply operation offering design flexibility with reduced power dissipation.

Micrel's new SY75576L and SY75578L clock buffers with 4 and 8 outputs, respectively, provide high performance solutions for new and existing PCIe system designs.  The SY75576L and SY75578L offer ultra-low additive phase jitter of sub-150fs with sub-50ps output-to-output skew for stringent PCI Express based server, storage, and networking applications.  The products' robust performance enables simplified system level design and PCB layout for quick time to market.

All devices are production released with Industrial temperature range of 40 C to +85 C .The ICs have Green, RoHS, and PFOS compliant packaging.  The devices are offered in 6-pin SOT (1 output), 16-pin 3 mm   3 mm QFN (2 outputs), 24-pin, 4-mm x 4 mm QFN (4 outputs), or 44-pin 7 mm  x 7 mm QFN (8 outputs) package options.
