Phihong USA is demonstrating a power-over-Ethernet (PoE)-powered workstation, using its POE60U-560G and POE45D-120 power products, at Interop this week. The application has been made possible by product development for the new specifications being explored by the IEEE PoEPlus task force and the developments in Phihong’s high-power PoE solutions. Because they can reduce installation costs and offer a single point of power backup, PoE-powered workstations are expected to benefit schools, educational establishments and call centers.
“We’re excited to be able to show our customers the evolution of Power-over-Ethernet,” said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing, Phihong USA. “While the breadth of PoE applications was previously limited due to power constraints, the developments in high-power PoE allow us to deliver 60 W of power over an Ethernet cable, enough to power the workstation and LCD display.”
