The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) has sharply criticized a provision in a bill introduced by Chairman Nick Rahall (Democrat-W.Va.) in the House Natural Resources Committee. The AWEA says the provision (Subtitle D of H.R. 2337) would “essentially outlaw the generation of electricity from new wind power plants in the United States and even phase out power production from existing wind turbines.”
In response to the provision, Gregory Wetstone, AWEA Senior Director of Government and Public Affairs, delivered a statement to the House Resources Committee. The statement expresses the AWEA’s concerns over the negative impact the provision would have (if passed) on the wind industry in the U.S.
