TÜV SÜD America is upgrading its San Diego test laboratory with the equipment necessary to test to European Standard IEC 61000-4-3 edition 3. This standard affects medical, information technology and electronics products, laboratory equipment and other commercial goods that will be exported and sold in the European Union. With this equipment, TÜV SÜD America will be able to utilize solid-state amplifiers that are required by the test standards to meet the harmonic distortion requirements.

TÜV SÜD America’s laboratory will be equipped with solid-state amplifiers manufactured by Ophir FR in Los Angeles. The amplifiers will be mounted into a custom rack system. When used with a Beammaster antenna and an Agilent signal generator, TÜV will have the capability to test to the latest IEC 61000-4-3 edition 3 requirements. This equipment, combined with the laboratory’s existing EMC Test Chambers and extensive test capabilities, means that TUV can provide safety and electromagnetic testing to the latest standards for testing laboratories.
