HP introduced the HP UPS Network Module which enables small, medium and enterprise-sized businesses to remotely monitor, diagnose, and manage uninterruptible power systems (UPS) and attached devices. The HP UPS Network Module supports either a single UPS configuration or provides additional power protection with support for dual, redundant UPS configuration-facilitating a no-single-point-of-failure environment.

The network module can be set up to send email notifications or alert traps to any SNMP management program, or be used as a standalone management system. This flexibility enables IT and facilities managers to monitor and control UPSs through the network. To facilitate day-to-day maintenance tasks and power analysis, the embedded management software provides detailed system logs. It is also ideal for customers who need to perform scheduled, graceful shut downs of attached equipment.

For independent control of devices connected to the UPS, the module:

  • Manages independent UPS load segments to provide separate power control of connected equipment
  • Prioritizes the timing of equipment shutdown and reboots connected equipment by load segment
  • Delays restart by load segment after a power outage to sequence the startup of system components
  • Shuts down and reboots the UPS and attached equipment, based on an user specified schedule

Sold through HP and HP Channel Partners, the HP UPS Network Module is available now. Pricing begins at $249.
