Alligator Technologies introduced its new USBPBP-S1, a USB-controlled single channel programmable signal conditioning instrumentation amplifier and band pass filter. Extremely configurable in a wide variety of applications, the USBPBP-S1 is available in a wide range of filter characteristics. Each USBPBP-S1 has intelligence built in to configure itself from power-up with changeable but non-volatile configuration and operate independently in both a "Turn-Key" or host computer controlled scenario. The new module is compatible with all 12, 16, or 24-bit A/D devices and is ideal for filtering applications in sound and vibration testing, ultrasonics, acoustics, structural analysis, industrial, test, scientific and laboratory data collection and applied mechanical applications in electronics, aerospace, field research, automotive, and process control industries.

The USBPBP-S1 provides the user with the ability to mix and match filter characteristics and independently select and program each module's high pass corner frequency, low pass corner frequency, gain steps up to x1000 in either single-ended or differential measurements. Multiple USBPBP-S1 modules can operate on the same USB bus. Once configured, the USBPBP-S1 can operate without the USB connection for turn-key applications.

Most filter products are too limiting and inflexible for many applications. This is not the case for the USBPBP-S1, each unit can be configured as an 8-pole Butterworth, Bessel, elliptic, or linear phase low pass filter characteristic and a 4-pole Bessel or Butterworth high pass filter making this product one of the most flexible in its class. The USBPBP-S1 is very easy to connect and use. Each module can be independently wired for differential or single-ended measurement. The USBPBP-S1 has an internal low pass corner frequency control source or it can be dynamically controlled from an external source providing a low pass filter corner frequency from 0.1 Hz to 200 kHz (depending on the filter characteristic) as well as external control signal syncing for tracking filter applications. The high pass filter corner frequency can be software selected from 1 Hz to 1200 Hz. Connection within the sampling system is a breeze with modular screw terminal connection plugs and BNC connectors built into the USBPBP-S1.

A flexible software package of menu-driven programs and drivers completes the USBPBP-S1 package. The SystemViewUSBPxx-S1™ software package includes a ready-made windows application that allows the user to quickly program all of the USBPBP-S1 parameters with a few mouse clicks. Configurations are automatically saved and recalled for fast setup and execution.
