Kistler has introduced its industry exclusive PRT Configurator, a comprehensive, interactive online model selection tool, designed to help customers eliminate the guesswork associated with determining the best piezoresistive pressure transducer for their unique requirements.

Available in absolute (Type 4260A), gauge (Type 4262A) and differential (Type 4264A) technology types, Kistler piezoresistive pressure transducers support a variety of demanding automotive, aerospace, industrial and general in-laboratory requirements, including automotive powertrain, in-line machinery and component leakage, automotive transmission and engine block assemblies, intake and exhaust manifolds, oil pans, water jacket liners, fuel rail, cylinder heads, shock absorbers, braking systems, rail and light rapid transit, and water, oil and fuel pump monitoring. Their unique design and construction is based upon more than 30 years of successful technology integration across thousands of field installations. Each transducer consists of a MEMS sensing element, exhibiting high accuracy, stability, repeatability and linearity with greater than 3x minimum proof pressures, mounted within a high-integrity seal assembly. This design allows for pressure connection flexibility without use of adaptors or rings. The assembly is fully isolated from pressure media by a welded 316L stainless steel or Hastelloyâ"¢ diaphragm. Surface mount electronics condition the sensing element output and allow for an on-board temperature compensation of -20o to +121oC (-4o to +250oF). A patented transducer sealing method (U.S. Patent 7,373,827) facilitates multiple measurement cycles without fatigue.

To access the PRT Configurator, a user may simply visit https://prtconfpub.my.kistler.com/ and immediately choose from among available parameters. A highly intuitive, user-friendly interface allows customers to enter in the necessary accuracy, range, connector, wiring and cable length data, with the automatic configuration and real-time display of the matching transducer type within the results window. Customers may then create a model summary sheet for download or printing, with the ability at any time to contact an experienced Kistler applications engineer for needed technical support. All PRT Configurator data input parameters are regularly reviewed and updated to keep pace with new and continuous product improvement initiatives.

Kistler piezoresistive pressure transducers are available in standard ranges from -14.7 to 5,000 psi (-1.01 to 344.7 BAR); in units of PSI, Bar, KPA, Torr, inches (millimeters) Hg, inches (millimeters) H20; in two-, three, or four-wire configuration; and with option of 17 unique, customer-configurable connector and fitting types, including MIL-C-26482, MIL-DTL-38999, DIN 43650A and Lumberg M12. Units are available in standard accuracy ranges of ±0.1% to ±0.2% FSO and with optional premium accuracy ranges from ±0.05% to ±0.15% FSO. EMC protection, reverse polarity, power supply regulation, overvoltage and short circuit protections are also standard, as well as choice of A2LA accredited or NIST traceable calibration. Additional circuit boards may also be factory added to support specific voltage and mA electrical outputs, along with non-interactive zero and span calibration adjustments, optional protections for ATEX environments, and optional compound and bi-directional pressure ranges.
