DAQ vendors offer price and performance options

Data-acquisition vendors have been busy this month introducing systems that span the gamut of price and performance points and a variety of applications areas, from sonar to aircraft power monitoring.

For example, Elsys Instruments announced it now offers its highly accurate transient recorder technology in a portable, ruggedized system for in-the-field measurements. Available with up to 24 channels and sample rates up to 240 MS/s, the flexible TraNET PPC enables precise data acquisition from multiple points simultaneously. Pricing for a TraNET PPC starts at $13,500. Click here for more.

At the other end of the price spectrum, Measurement Computing has announced the release of four low-cost USB DAQ devices with sampling rates up to 500 kS/s and prices starting at $99. The USB-200 Series offers eight 12-bit analog inputs plus eight digital I/O lines and one counter input. Click here for more.

In addition, Silicon Designs Inc., a manufacturer of rugged industrial-grade MEMS capacitive accelerometer chips and modules, announced the launch of its Model 3330 G-Logger, a USB-powered portable data-acquisition system with FFT analysis and display capabilities. Click here for more.

For sound and vibration measurements, Data Translation announced the release of the DT9839 low-cost USB-powered module. The DT9839 features a 4-channel, 16-bit delta-sigma ADC with a nominal input range of ±2.5 V and sampling rates up to 52.7 kHz per channel. The company notes that applications that require accelerometer, vibration, noise, or sonar measurements often use IEPE sensors. IEPE conditioning is built into the analog circuitry of the DT9839, providing an excitation current source and AC or DC coupling. Click here for more.

And UEI has announced the release of four new analog input boards, which offer eight analog input channels, 24-bit A/D resolution, and 120 kS/s maximum sampling rates. All four boards also offer complete, 350-Vrms channel-to-channel and channel-to-chassis isolation. The DNx-AI-218 offers a ±10-VDC input range suitable for most general-purpose DAQ measurements, while the DNx-AI-228-300’s ±300-VDC input range makes it suitable battery testing, power-plant monitoring, and aircraft power monitoring. On a related note, Sensors Expo takes place June 4-6 in Rosemont, IL. The conference includes a track titled “Novel Approaches to Measurement & Detection,” presented in cooperation with EE-Evaluation Engineering. In an introductory session, a Frost & Sullivan analyst will discuss the data-acquisition market. Other topics range from vibration sensing to in-vehicle datalogging.
