April 18, 2013. Micrel Inc. today announced the MIC826 ±0.5% accuracy voltage supervisor, with manual reset input, watchdog timer, and dual outputs in a 1.6mm x 1.6mm thin DFN package. The device is aimed at portable applications that require small size, high integration, and low current consumption. The MIC826 is currently available in volume quantities, with 1,000 quantity pricing starting at $0.32 each.
“The MIC826 features a precision voltage monitor, manual reset, watchdog timer, and dual outputs in a small package. This provides the designer with high integration while reducing solution size up to 70% compared to competing solutions,” noted Brian Hedayati, marketing vice president for high-performance linear and power solutions at Micrel. “The device also improves the accuracy of the power supply monitor by 1 to 2% versus the competition over the -40°C to +125°C temperature range. This makes it an ideal solution for portable, as well as industrial and automotive applications, which require tighter accuracy over a wider temperature range.”
The MIC826 offers eight reset threshold options and is intended to monitor 1.8V to 5V power supplies. The device features a ±0.5% voltage threshold accuracy at room temperature and ±1.5% voltage threshold accuracy over the -40°C to +125°C temperature range. The solution consumes 3.8 µA of supply current for power supplies; lower than 3.6 V and 4.8 µA for solutions operating from a 5-V power supply. The IC also features an industry-standard reset timeout period of 140 ms (min) and a watchdog time output period of 1.6 s, as well as dual, active-high push-pull, and active-low push-pull reset outputs in a 1.6 mm x 1.6 mm x 0.55 mm thin DFN package.
