Behlman Frequency Convertors Chosen for CH-47 Chinook Helicopter Support
October 3, 2013. Behlman Electronics Inc. announced that its modified COTS BL3X100 Avionics Bench Power Supply (ABPS) is being integrated into ruggedized portable test systems supplied to the US Army. These will facilitate updating mission-critical software and firmware for CH-47 Chinook helicopters, by enabling the powering-up of aircraft avionics without using the aircraft’s on-board power.
The Behlman BL3X100 ABPS provides 115/200 VAC, 3-phase, isolated and floating, at 400 Hz, plus 28 VDC. It delivers a clean sine wave output, high efficiency, and low harmonic distortion. Behlman’s unique protection circuitry provides overtemperature and short-circuit protection, along with voltage fold-back during overloads to ensure that the system’s power output provides undistorted waveforms essential for avionics performance.
Behlman president Ron Storm said, “Our customer started by evaluating the Behlman COTS BL3X350 for their Chinook helicopter application. When it was discovered that they needed less power and a smaller chassis, plus additional features, we were proud to be able to quickly modify the standard unit and deliver the modified COTS Behlman BL3X100, which gave them everything they needed, in a shorter time than they expected.”
The Behlman BL3X100 is one of over fifty different Behlman COTS and modified COTS frequency convertors designed to provide ground and mobile power for a range of military applications.
