October 4, 2013 – Rigol Technologies Inc. has announced a high-performance RF signal-source family, the DSG3000 Series. As Rigol’s first RF signal source, the DSG3000 series offers standard AM/FM/ØM modulation, as well as options for I/Q modulation and I/Q baseband output. The instrument is available with maximum frequencies of either 3 GHz or 6 GHz.

Featuring a high signal purity with phase noise measuring <-110 dBc/Hz @ 20 kHz (typical) and a wide output range of -130 dBm to +13 dBm, the DSG3000 RF signal generator has standard pulse modulation with an on/off ratio of up to 80 dB, with optional pulse train generator available. The DSG3000 Series also has an amplitude accuracy of <0.5 dB (typical). The standard 0.5-ppm internal clock can be upgraded to an optional 5-ppb high-stability clock.

All modulation functions of the DSG3000 Series support internal and external modulation modes and work with USB, LAN, and GPIB remote-control interfaces. LAN control is LXI-C, and the instrument is supported by an IVI driver for convenient test system performance. The DSG3000 Series also features a wear-free electronic attenuator design and an automatic flatness calibration function via external automated power-meter control over USB. The standard 2U height of the DSG3000 is designed to save rack space, with a rack mount kit also available from Rigol.

Prices for the DSG3000 series start at less than $7,000. Some models may have a several week lead-time.
