November 17, 2013. Anritsu has introduced a high-sensitivity error detector (ED) for its MP1800A BERT signal-quality analyzer that supports multichannel BER measurements up to 32.1 Gb/s. Featuring high Rx sensitivity and a fast Auto Adjust function, the new ED, when configured with the MP1800A, provides signal integrity engineers with a highly accurate test solution to verify that their high-speed backplanes, cables, and interconnects are in compliance with industry standards, such as 100GBASE-SR4 and 100GBASE-KR4.
Delivering a wideband bit rate from 2.4 to 32.1 Gb/s, the new ED offers Rx sensitivity of typically 10 mV. It features an Auto Adjust function that permits simultaneous search in less than one second and automatically detects the optimum BER voltage threshold and phase levels for up to eight channels, to improve test efficiency and lower cost-of-test.
Users can select either one-, two-, or four-channel inputs. Up to eight channels can be supported by adding more modules to a single MP1800A BERT. The extended functions of the MP1800A created by the new ED support simultaneous measurement of low-amplitude, small-eye-opening DUT outputs for multiple channels. Engineers can use the test solution to achieve more accurate and ideal signal quality analysis for various applications at speeds up to 32.1 Gb/s, including 100GbE (25Gx4), OUT-4 (28Gx4), CEI-28G, 32G Fibre Channel, Infiniband EDR, server/high-performance computer interconnects, and Active Optical Cables (AOC) based on silicon photonics technologies.
