Agilent's Nersesian addresses EM spinoff on YouTube

Ron Nersesian, executive VP of Agilent Technologies and CEO-designate of the soon-to-be-spun-off electronic measurement company, takes to YouTube today to discuss the path forward—after taking a look back to the founding of the electronic measurement business 75 years ago by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard in their famed garage.

On September 19, Agilent announced plans to separate into two publicly traded companies: one in life sciences, diagnostics, and applied markets (LDA) that will retain the Agilent name, and the other that will comprise Agilent's current portfolio of electronic measurement (EM) products.

In the clip, Nersesian notes that many businesses have grown out of the electronic measurement core, including computers, printers, and most recently life sciences and diagnostics companies.

“Agilent's health care business is large, healthy, and on a great path to success,” he says, adding that the new EM company will “focus exclusively on your needs and solutions.”

He adds that certain things will change and certain things will not—one thing that will change is that by the end of 2014 the EM company will have new name and be a separately publically traded company.

“That company will be 100% focused on electronic measurement customers from top to bottom,” he says. “We will reinvest in the business with rigor to make sure we provide the best solutions in the world. What will not change is the focus and passion of 10,000 employees that are there every day to help you succeed in your mission. I look forward to working with you in the days and years to come.”
