Spirax Sarco seeks oldest working steam boiler, joins ISA100 WCI

I often receive news from Spirax Sarco, a steam system management company. The news is not generally relevant to our focus areas at EE-Evaluation Engineering, but this latest item caught my attention: The company is looking for the world's oldest commercially operating steam boiler in an industrial or building-service and needs your help. In addition, the company has joined the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute.

As for the “World’s Oldest Working Steam Boiler Contest,” enter by June 1, 2014, and you could win a Kindle.

“Steam systems have a reputation for being reliable and robust, working for many years with minimal maintenance. Modern steam systems are many times more efficient than older systems, and Spirax Sarco would like to prove the point by comparing a modern system with a really old one,” said Tracy Britt, marketing communication coordinator at Spirax Sarco. “But first we have to find the oldest one.”

Boilers on exhibit in museums don't count.

If you know of an old yet still operating steam boiler, access the latest edition of to SteamNews magazine at http://bit.ly/zYjZsw for more information on how to enter the contest.
