Adaptive Power Systems debuts AC, DC programmable sources

March 20, 2018

Irvine, CA. Adaptive Power Systems Inc. (APS) has introduced a range of new, single-phase AC and DC output power sources. These new products address a range of product development and test needs. These models cover a power range from 600 VA to 5 kVA for single-phase requirements and 6 kVA to 15 kVA for three-phase requirements. Output voltage is up to 300 VAC in AC mode or up to 424 VDC in DC mode for all models.

A dual-range voltage output allows optimal support of continuous rated load currents on all models. All models use a large color touch-sensitive LCD and intuitive front panel controls that makes setting output voltage, frequency, and current limit simple and convenient. The LCD shows a full complement of all output measurements during testing, and the rotary shuttle slews voltage or frequency up or down smoothly. All CPS100 models take single-phase input voltage. Output voltage is available at any desirable voltage and frequency combination up to 1,200 Hz and 300 VAC to power units under test. Simulated line drop-outs can be generated at specific phase angles to test for worst-case scenarios.

A special Go test mode, using user defined pass and fail limits for all output measurements, is built-in so no user programming is required. A total of 50 line distortion simulation (LDS) transient lists can be stored in nonvolatile memory. Standard LIST, PULSE, and STEP transient modes are supported.

For DC testing, the CPS100 provides 212-VDC and 424-VDC voltage ranges for testing DC powered EUTs. The ability to have both AC and DC output or a combination of AC+DC increases the flexibility and usefulness of the CPS100 Series.

The enhanced model versions of the CPS100 series include built-in pre-compliance test modes for IEC 61000-4-11 voltage dips and interruptions, IEC 61000-4-13 harmonics and inter-harmonics, IEC 61000-4-14 voltage fluctuations, and IEC 61000-4-28 frequency variations. This allows design engineers to quickly check compliance to these power immunity standards during product development.

According to Jim Logudice, sales manager for Adaptive Power Systems Inc., “These modern switch-mode power sources offer proven reliability and cost-effective power test solutions for a wide range of AC product as well as DC product development and test requirements. They complement our popular basic frequency converters with more advanced, fully programmable models.”

All CPS100 Series model are available from four to six weeks ARO.
