-GHz, low-noise oscilloscopes

6 Series MSO oscilloscopes extend the performance threshold of midrange oscilloscopes to 8 GHz and deliver a 25-GS/s sample rate simultaneously on all four channels to
accommodate the needs of designers working on faster, more complex embedded systems. With a 25-GS/s sample rate on all channels, designers can accurately view up to four high-speed signals at one time. For example, a DDR3 clock and three DDR3 data channels can be viewed and analyzed simultaneously, decreasing the time it takes to fully characterize a design with an instrument that shares sampling systems between channels. The new 6 Series MSO also boosts measurement confidence with its low-noise inputs, especially at the highest sensitivity settings where it matters most. For example, modern embedded designs require clean, precisely-controlled DC power supplies to feed ASIC and FPGA devices. For such applications, the 6 Series MSO enables designers to measure DC power rails with more resolution and accuracy, reducing the time it takes to understand high-frequency influencers on power rails in a design. Based on the same platform as the 5 Series MSO, the 6 Series MSO provides easy upgradeability for long-term investment protection. To meet the need for more insight on faster signals, the 6 Series MSO incorporates a new low-noise preamplifier ASIC that lowers noise, especially on signals that are in the hundreds of millivolts peak-to-peak. With its 25-GS/s sample rate on four channels, the instrument delivers 16-bit resolution at 200 MHz when using the High Res mode. Tektronix

Current-sense transformers

The MID-SNS family of surface-mount transformers are designed to operate from 50 kHz to 500 kHz and sense up to 40 A of current. The turns ratios offered are 1:50, 1:100, 1:150, and 1:200 with inductances ranging from 1.4 mH to 22.4 mH. Compared to current sense
resistors, these parts have much lower power dissipation and provide galvanic isolation. These 40-A MID-SNS transformers are built on a compact platform with a footprint of 14.48 mm x 20.2 mm and low-profile height of 10.5 mm. These parts have low primary DC resistance and meet 1,500-Vrms dielectric between the primary and secondary windings. The transformers have an operating temperature of -40°C to 125°C and are RoHS and REACH compliant. They are suited for switch-mode power supplies, precise current measurement, feedback control, circuit protection and monitoring, and high-reliability equipment applications. All models are backed by a three-year warranty. Traco Power

Quad-port gigabit Ethernet XMC modules

The new XMC610 Series modules provide four independent gigabit Ethernet interface ports when used on VME, VPX, PCIe, or other embedded-computing carrier boards. The Intel
I350 Ethernet controller interfaces with the PCIe bus via four high-speed serial lanes on the XMC P15 connector. Three models are available. The XMC611 model offers four RJ45 connectors on the front panel for copper cabling while the XMC612 substitutes four SFP connectors to additionally support fiber-optic media. The rear I/O Model XMC613 routes four 1000BASE-T connections to the P16 connector and is compatible with conduction-cooling frames. Designed for COTS applications, these XMC modules are suitable for use in defense, aerospace, industrial, and scientific-research computing systems. All versions are lead-free with prices starting at $670. Software support is available for embedded applications running on Linux, Windows, or VxWorks operating systems.Acromag

Oscilloscope with bandwidths to 110 GHz

The new Infiniium UXR Series oscilloscope supports terabit research with a real-time bandwidth up to 110 GHz and a sample rate to 256 GS/s. The Infiniium UXR Series offers advanced capabilities that enable leading-edge researchers to accelerate time to market with PAM4, 5G, and optical solutions by ensuring signals are clearer, eye diagrams are open, and results are accurate. In addition, when paired with the vendor’s new up-to-110-GHz optical modulation analyzer frontend and the VSA-based optical modulation software, the Infiniium UXR turns into an end-to-end solution for optical research. The Infiniium UXR Series provides 10-bit resolution, four full-bandwidth channels to reduce timing error when working with dual-polarization coherent modulation, full self-calibration to ensure ongoing measurement accuracy while eliminating the need to take the unit out of service, and chipset based on a the vendor’s proprietary InP process that enables wide bandwidth and low noise floor. Real-time spectrum analyzers

With the introduction of the RSA3000, this vendor is extending its real-time analysis solutions to applications that don’t require the high performance or standard options of the performance RSA5000 Series introduced earlier this year. Available in 3.0-GHz and 4.5-GHz
models with available tracking generators, the RSA3000 comes standard with 10 MHz of real-time analysis bandwidth but can be upgraded to 40 MHz at any time. With the 40-MHz option applied, the RSA3000 delivers the same seamless capture, minimum probability of intercept (POI) of 7.45 µs, seven rich visualization modes, and triggering capability as the RSA5000 providing a complete real-time analysis package for engineers at lower entry price. The RSA3000 can also function as a traditional swept-spectrum analyzer with specifications sufficient for most applications. Resolution bandwidth (RBW) is standard at 10 Hz with an option for 1 Hz. Other features include a noise floor as low as -161 dBm, phase noise of -102 dBc/Hz, and a full span sweep as fast as 1 ms. The RSA3000 takes 146,484 FFTs per second providing a minimum 100% POI of 7.45 µs. This performance allows users to capture pulsing, hopping, and fast-transient signals as short as 7.45 µs.
