The company's software tools debut as the first set of design solutions to emancipate engineers working at the PHY layer, allowing them to create, analyze, and troubleshoot OFDM signals found in the IEEE 802.16-2004 standard, also referred to as WiMAX. The software suite consists of three components designed for use with a variety of the company's test instruments. Software includes Signal Studio for WiMAX (E4438C option H13), 89600 Series vector signal analysis software (option B7S OFDM modulation analysis), and the Advanced Communications Model Set in Advanced Design System (ADS) 2004A. Signal Studio for WiMAX software allows users to generate IEEE 802.16-2004-compliant signals for component test applications and to select signal parameters—bandwidth, cyclic prefix ratio (G), sampling factor (n), and frame length—as specified in the standard to configure both downlink or uplink frames. The B7S OFDM modulation-analysis software allows demodulation analysis and troubleshooting of OFDM PHY layer signals when combined with a variety of the company's digitizers, including VSA, ESA, and PSA spectrum analyzers, 89600 VXI signal analyzers, and Infiniium oscilloscopes. The Advanced Communication Model Set for ADS 2004A provides modeling components for creating WiMAX-compliant signals and simulating OFDM base systems, such as WiMAX, WiFi, and ultra-wideband. Prices for Signal Studio, 89600 VSA software, and the Advanced Communications Model Set are $9,000, $5,000, and $9,230, respectively. AGILENT TECHNOLOGIES INC., Palo Alto, CA.
