A series of low-cost PXI Express chassis and controller options is now available for automated test and measurement applications, including the PXIe-8102/01 embedded controllers and the PXIe-1073 chassis. The chassis and controllers directly address the cost pressures associated with a test infrastructure while maintaining high-speed transfer rates of up to 250 MB/s across the PXI Express data bus. The NI PXIe-1073 chassis, which features an integrated remote controller, contains five PXI Express hybrid slots that accept both PXI and PXI Express modules, such as the company’s X Series PXI Express data-acquisition modules. The chassis provides 250 MB/s of total system bandwidth and an integrated MXI Express controller with PCI Express host controller card and cable. The NI PXIe-8102/01 embedded controllers can address the needs of test engineers who need to couple the PC and chassis in a self-contained PXI Express system. The PXIe-8102 features a dual-core, 1.9-GHz Intel Celeron T3100 processor, and the PXIe-8101 includes a single-core, 2.0-GHz Intel Celeron 575 processor. Integrating these controllers into a PXI Express chassis, such as the company’s PXIe-1062Q or PXIe-1082, provides engineers with a compact platform that delivers up to 1 GB/s of total system bandwidth and up to 250 GB/s of single-slot bandwidth. The PXIe-1073 chassis starts at $1400 each; the PXIe-8101 embedded controller starts at $2099 each; and the PXIe-8102 embedded controller starts at $3099 each. NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS, Austin, TX.
