The Octet configurable system-on-a-chip (SoC) platform from Credence Systems combines a comprehensive software package and built-in flexibility to speed time-to-volume.

Built on a standard 1024-pin architecture, Octet includes options for multiple-data-rate digital testing as well as a full suite of analog instrumentation. A flexible architecture enables multiple digital, high-speed serial, and analog tests to run simultaneously. A separate processor is dedicated to each capture instrument, eliminating bottlenecks. Every 64-bit processor is coupled with 128 Mbytes of front-end capture memory and at least 256 Mbytes of waveform-processing memory.

The Octet Software Suite covers pre-silicon test, program development, and advanced debug tools. Based on an open system design, a module called Program Developer seamlessly interfaces with all the other programs in the suite to provide an intuitive drag-and-drop interface for program development, compilation, and debug.

The Octet SoC tester costs between $1.5 million and $2.0 million, depending on the configuration required.
