A temperature characteristic test kit for the E4991A RF impedance/material analyzer can evaluate components over a broad temperature range with the highest possible accuracy. It should find its way into the hands of surface-mount-device, dielectric, and magnetic-material manufacturers. The versatile E4991A instrument tests a range of devices, from passive components such as resistors, capacitors, and inductors (which require RF impedance measurements) to semiconductors that require capacitance-voltage measurement. The kit consists of an extension cable, a temperature cable, a test fixture, a test-head stand, and open and short standards. A Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) Windows-based sample program lets users configure an automated test system. A complete test system, replete with the test kit and E4991A, has a temperature chamber for the test fixture. The test kit costs about $6100.
