14G VCSEL Driver Integrates Dual-Path Limiting Amp

Reportedly, the MAX3799 debuts as the industry’s first single-chip VCSEL driver and dual-path limiting-amplifier. The device delivers up to 14-Gb/s performance and a wide range of programmable receiver/transmitter features while consuming 320 mW of power. Other features include a three-wire digital interface, programmable receive functions (data rate, LOS threshold, LOS squelch, LOS polarity, CML output level, signal-path polarity, slew-rate control, de-emphasis, and mode-select change time), and programmable transmit functions (modulation current, bias current, polarity, de-emphasis, eye-crossing adjustment, and eye safety control).
