Swedish company Polar Rose revealed an unusual technology that combines automatic facial recognition with 3D modeling for visual search applications. The company announced it had received initial Series A funding. A total of €4 m was raised from Nordic Venture Partners (Copenhagen), the Nordic region's largest IT venture company. Polar Rose was founded on expertise in automatic 3D modelling and pattern recognition that was originally pioneered by the company's founder and CTO, Dr. Jan Erik Solem.
