32-Bit Processor Interfaces To FPGAs

Designed for use with the company's Virtex and Spartan series of field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), the ARC 32-bit configurable processor includes an instruction set that can be configured to match the user's exact requirements. It is claimed that this makes it suitable for a wider range of applications than can be addressed using an external or an embedded fixed-instruction-set processor. The toolset allows the user to customize the processor to achieve either greater system performance or lower power at reduced clock frequencies. Users can purchase a full license for the ARC core that includes the core configuration utilities, development tools, and a development board.
