Precision clocks with 18 differential ECL outputs for high-speed clock applications such as computer clock distribution, Rambus, telecom and ATE systems is promised with the VSC6108, VSC6110, and VSC6112, a family of clock multiplier and distribution ICs. Skew is very low, the rise times are extremely fast and jitter is very small, meeting SONET/SDH jitter requirements. Input frequencies are selectable from 50 MHz to 622 MHz and the output frequencies are selectable from 100 MHz to 1.25 GHz. The device operates from a single 3.3V power supply with a dissipation of only 1.2W typical.System cost is said to be reduced because designers can distribute high-speed clocks on the pc board but use lower speed clocks from board to board. Applications include ATE, instrumentation, telecom and datacom, and computer system applications. Commercial temperature range is 0°C to 70°C. Samples are available with volume production scheduled for Q3 of this year.
