DC-DC Converters Provide 2 W Or 3 W From Wide Inputs

Oct. 8, 2008
The IM and IT series of 2-W and 3-W board-mounted, regulated DC/DC converters are encapsulated in a plastic non-conductive SIP format package. Measuring 1.02” x 0.49” x 0.36” (26.0 mm x 12.5 mm x 9.3 mm), the devices offer an extra-wide 4:1 input range

The IM and IT series of 2-W and 3-W board-mounted, regulated DC/DC converters are encapsulated in a plastic non-conductive SIP format package. Measuring 1.02” x 0.49” x 0.36” (26.0 mm x 12.5 mm x 9.3 mm), the devices offer an extra-wide 4:1 input range and an input-to-output isolation of 1.5 kV for up to 1 minute. They are suitable for use in mobile, portable, and wireless products where board space is at a premium. Between them, the 2-W IM series and the 3-W IT series offer a total of 28 variants. Covering the nominal input voltages of 12, 24 and 48 V dc, each series offers either 9 to 36 V dc or 18 to 75 V dc input ranges. Each range includes single-output models providing +3.3, 5, 12 or 15 V dc and dual-output units offering ±5, ±12 or ±15 V dc. All outputs are fully regulated to within ±0.5% over all input conditions and to less than ±0.5% over all load conditions from 10 to 100% of full load. A remote on/off function allows an external signal to control the converter. The units can operate, with no additional heat sinking or forced airflow, from -40°C to +100°C. Full power output is available up to +75°C and with derating up to the maximum case temperature of +100°C. These highly reliable DC/DC converters have an MTBF in excess of 1.2 million hours as defined by MIL-HDBK-217F calculations. Prices range from $12.87 each for single-output IM series to $18.72 each for the dual-output IT series, both in lots of 500. They are available from stock. XP POWER, Sunnyvale, CA. (408) 732-7777.
