DC Power Jack Includes Power Status Indication

Sept. 1, 2002

Designed for portable devices such as laptop computers, digital cameras and CD players, a DC power jack has been developed that contains a LED for indicating when power is reaching the device through the jack. The black PBT thermoplastic jack indicates either power status or the presence of a power source. Depending on the PC board circuitry, the LEDs can be wired to be either dependent or independent of plug insertion. This through-hole, right-angle power jack is UL94V-0 rated and can handle 2.5A at 24 Vdc. The connector is 12.7 mm in height and available with a 1.3 mm center pin. Operating temperature range is from -25°C to 85°C. Pricing for the LED-equipped jack (part number KLDL-0201BC-x/x) is $1.85 each/5,000. KYCON, INC., San Jose, CA. (888) 592-6622.
